This past weekend, we assisted with the first Startup Weekend Greenville, welcoming a group of 60 participants who decided to skip the awesome weekend weather to form teams and create new business ideas. The teams committed to an intense amount of work, all leading up to a 5-minute pitch to a panel of judges and audience on Sunday night.
Many of our students and alumni joined in the fun, not necessarily just to do some programming and design, but to really exercise their entrepreneurship muscles and learn more about what it really takes to execute on an idea.
It was an exhausting but exhilarating 54 hours. Seeing the results of all that work was inspiring, but knowing that so many of our Iron Yard family were involved made the experience that much sweeter. Congratulations to all the participants, and a special thanks to all sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event a success!
To the teams hoping to keep going – now it’s time to really get to work!
